Meeko’s Reading X-Change
There has been a post going around Facebook about a ‘Blind Date with a Book’ and it is such a wonderful concept that I decided I would like to host an exchange for the holiday
through my website with that same premise. While most of readers often are in the digital age, using their cellphones and e-readers, there is never anything quite like the printed item in your hand.
I have hosted and participated in exchanges like this many times in the past. Using CD mixes, Naughty Santa holiday exchanges, Good Santa exchanges, Valentines Day exchanges. These all are so much fun and you never know the surprises you find when you get those packages in the mail!
(The condom lolly pop I think might still be floating around somewhere…*looks away concerned…*)
So, here are the details…
Participants will go out and buy a new book for someone that it will be anonymously sent to via the coordinator (aka, Meeko).
On an index card or notepaper, write out the information of the book you would like to have written on the brown paper wrapping of the book.
I will wrap all the books before I repackage them to send them forward.
You will then have to have it mailed out to me by November 30th. If you can’t by that date, then at least one day that week immediately.
When sending, I recommend sending the book via FlatRate box/envelope as it is a set rate of $5.95 – $12.65 for the small to medium sizes depending on the size of the book(s).
This option automatically comes with tracking numbers and I will be using this when sending the books back out to the recipients and providing those numbers to them.
I also ask that you donate the same amount of money inside the cover of the book to forward the book to the next recipient.
Wishful hopes is to have 10 participants in this! *fingers crossed!*
Here is how it will go:
Step 1: Participants will email Meeko with their intent of participation, their mailing address, and preferred nickname for final compiled list to be posted at the end of the exchange at meekotales@icloud.com (Note! This email has been set up just for exchanges and contests I will be hosting.
It is not for other site related communications), I will reply with the mailing address to send your book to.
Step 2: Go shopping for your anonymous giftee’s new book!
Make sure it’s something good as it is a reflection of you!
Step 3: Prepare and ship the book to Meeko by November 30th.
Step 4: Eagerly await your tracking number for when Meeko Elf visits the Post Office. My goal it to have all participants books out by December 12th.
